These days, it's wheels, wheels, wheels - what showcases the tyres and car the best. Some like to select brilliantly hued, bulge acorn lug nuts or a cool center cap for rims of chrome, gun metal or customized color. Alternatively they can go for spinners and act that they are a rap star like 50 Cent. LED lights are being seen more and more on the streets at night. It will certainly get you noticed.

Just a Few Terms to Get You Started:

  • Spinners can be one piece rims or added onto you current rims and have roller bearings to allow them to move, giving the wheels the visual impact of unexpected movement. The unexpected movement is because the spinners are independent of the rims so they can move even when the car is stopped, energized by the law of momentum, sliding along on their bearings with little resistance from the wheel itself.
  • When you purchase a car your rims have what are called factory center caps. To make your rims more catchy, there are numerous center caps for rims that you can buy to set your wheels apart.
  • Center caps can be snapped into place when upgrading your tires with aftermarket rims. The caps cover the center of the rim and can have all manner of designs - domestic or foreign logos, even a concept design. A tip for finding center caps for rims on the cheap is to check local salvage yards. Don't forget the web; there are plenty of suppliers who would be glad to help you find the perfect set of caps.
  • Rims bought from a manufacturer other than the car maker are called aftermarket rims and are used to personalize your car.  These are usually coupled with center caps for rims that either come as a set or can be purchased separately from a dealer.
  • Hub caps cover the complete rim to protect and add style to the stock steel rims they normally cover.
  • LED lights can be added to your car wheels. The diodes emit a glowing light and are powered by small long-life batteries.
  • Wheel spacers give additional width to the wheels and tires, positioning them a little closer to the fenders. There is an improvement in handling in addition to a more agressive look to your machine.
